How It Works
The Alberta Wildlife Federation Fishing Challenge Series is designed to be easy to participate in, conservation-focused, and fun for anglers of all experience levels.
Competitions are managed through the Angler's Atlas/MyCatch App, providing a simple, secure way to record catches, track standings, and support responsible fishing practices.
How to Enter
Getting started is easy:
Download the MyCatch App or visit AnglersAtlas.com.
Create your angler profile.
Search for Alberta Wildlife Federation competitions.
Select the event you'd like to enter.
Complete your registration and pay the entry fee.
When the event opens, hit the water and start fishing.
All catches must be submitted through the app and include timestamped photos and any required catch information outlined in the event rules.
Scoring
Competition standings are determined using a length-based scoring system that rewards skill while supporting catch-and-release practices.
Submit catch photos through the MyCatch App.
Fish are scored based on length, according to event rules.
Live leaderboards update automatically throughout the competition.
Species-specific rules, scoring details, and eligibility requirements can be found on each event page.
Eligible Waters
Competition waters vary by event. Some challenges are open across Alberta, while others are limited to specific lakes, rivers, or regions.

Angler’s Atlas is an online platform for anglers with detailed maps and local fishing info across North America, plus science driven fishing events. Its companion app, MyCatch, lets you log trips and fish (even offline), join virtual or in‑person events, and contribute your data, privately, to fisheries research. Your precise catch locations remain confidential (“secret spots stay secret”), while your shared logs help biologists study fish populations.

MyCatch emphasizes privacy. When you choose to share, your logs support conservation and research, but exact catch locations are not publicly revealed. Research partners access anonymized data under agreements that protect angler privacy. Publicly visible items (like leaderboards) show results without exposing your secret spots.

No. You need a smartphone (or tablet) capable of running the MyCatch app to log catches and officially participate.
Events require downloading the MyCatch app and logging in to submit all catches. Without the app, you cannot enter fish or appear on the leaderboard.
